One scary quote for us theatergoers:
In 2019, there were 1.24 billion movie tickets sold in North America. In 2025, there were 780 million, a decline of 37 percent.
He attributes much of this decline to the shortening of “windows” during Covid. Windows are the amount of time a movie spends in theaters, then on home video, then on streaming, then on free TV. He says some studios are finally lengthening their theater windows, and that “2026 is likely to be an up year at the box office.”
