Mysterious Sie Upgrades

No screenings at the Sie this week, with a note on their calendar saying "The Sie FilmCenter will be closed from Monday, 2/2, to Thursday, 2/5, for some very exciting new upgrades to our theater that have been over a year in the making! Announcement coming soon. The Sie will reopen for regular screenings on Friday, 2/6."

Sooooo, what do we think these upgrades are? Nothing at the Sie is really so shabby that it's screaming for renovation. I think major changes like new recliner seating would take more than a few days. Maybe it's just a sound or projection upgrade?

Oh wait, I have a guess! They might be creating a more gender-neutral restroom arrangement! They've had a sign up about that on their M/F restrooms for a while.

Christy Vintage Theatre relabeled their restrooms gender neutral and I don’t think people like it. If you build it properly with individual stalls (floor to ceiling walls, good door) with shared sinks it’s fine, but just announcing they are gender neutral without the design to support it is counterproductive.

I could have sworn that I read it was a projection upgrade, but I can't find where I saw that.

Now it makes sense that Wednesday's Pillion screening is at the AMC.

Keith said at the Giallo screening on Saturday that it is upgrading projection to 4K laser and new screens. There are a few other touches as well I guess.
